The Five Most Regretful Things
An Australian nurse wrote a book entitled (The Five Most Regretful Things We Regret When We Grow Up)
The book includes a
summary: Many older people were asked before they died about the biggest things they regret doing (or not doing) if they were younger. It is noted that there are five desires that most elderly people shared:
Firstly: I wish I had the courage to live for myself and not live the life that others expected or wanted from me.
Most of them expressed their regret for pleasing others (such as their bosses at work) or appearing to please society or those who live around them
secondly: I wish I had devoted more time to my family and friends instead of wasting my whole life in a stressful work routine
Third: I wish I had the courage to express my feelings openly and clearly. Many people concealed their feelings for reasons such as avoiding confrontation with others, or sacrificing for undeserving people. Fourthly: I wished I could keep in touch with my old friends or renew my friendship with them. Old friends differ from other friends in that we feel happy with them and recall beautiful childhood memories with them. But unfortunately, we stay away from them during the work and family building stage until we lose them permanently or suddenly hear of their death. And
finally: I wish I had realized earlier the true meaning of happiness, as most of us only realize later that happiness was a state of mind not linked to money, position, or fame. Happiness was a choice that could be achieved with less effort and simpler cost, but we remained attached to traditional ideas about achieving it.
